Exchange in soil of Urea Nitrogen

Urea Nitrogen Fertilizer exist in CONH2-, can not be absorbed by a plant directly. In soil, CONH2- will hydrolysis by enzyme urease in NH4+ and HCO3-, NH4+ can occur nitrification converts to NO3-, both of NH4+ and NO3- can be absorbed by plant roots. So, Urea Nitrogen Fertilizer can not quick effect on the plants as Ammonium Nitrogen and Nitrate Nitrogen Fertilizer.

  • Overdose or placing Urea Nitrogen Fertilizer near the seeds, due to the risk of germination damage.

  • In high rainfall areas and on sandy soils (where nitrogen can be lost through leaching) and where good in-season rainfall is expected, Urea Nitrogen Fertilizer can be side- or top-dressed during the growing season.

  • When moisture is appropriate, the conversion speed of CONH2- converts to NH4+ along with the soil temperature rise up. When the soil temperature is 10 ℃ it takes 7 to 10 days, 20 ℃ takes 4 to 5 days, 30 ℃ takes  2 to 3 days.
